1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Bf4 Nc6 Knight moves to c3 or f3 on the third move are more useful and flexible for white - sometimes the bishop is better at g5. Black's third move blocks his c pawn when defending a Queen's Gambit, limiting his chances to attack the center. 4.e3 Nf6 5.Nf3 Bb4+ 6.Nc3 Ne4 7.Qc2 Nxc3 8.bxc3 Bd6 9.Bxd6 Qxd6 10.c5 Gains space but relieves pressure on the d5 pawn. 10...Qe7 11.Bd3 Bd7 Black could play 11...e5, attacking the center and threatening a pawn fork. His bishop might find a better post than d7. 12.0-0 0-0-0 |
