Scholastic Chess Programs

Kids Chess Network provides afterschool chess instruction at many schools, and at some schools we also provide lunch clubs, daytime electives or chess in the curriculum. Representative examples include the following:

  • Columbia Grammar and Prep School has an extensive chess program including KCN's afterschool, tournament and travel team chess services, and CGPS' own chess in the curriculum for kindergarteners and first graders, sunrise chess and middle school and high school chess electives. CGPS is a perennial contender at all of the NYC, NYS and National chess competitions. The Friday tournament series (about 6 or 7 tournaments a year) is very popular in NYC's scholastic chess community.
  • Spence School has a very popular afterschool chess program on Wednesdays and offers curriculum chess in 2nd grade and in the middle school. Spence is our brand new host for our August chess camp this year (2010) and hosts twice-yearly all-girls chess tournaments.
  • The Brearley-Chapin afterschool clubhouse offers afterschool chess on Tuesdays.
  • Collegiate School offers afterschool chess for 2nd through 4th grade on Mondays and kindergarten and 1st grade on Fridays.

Kids Chess Network also provides afterschool, lunchtime or chess elective programs at many other schools.
